Ik geloof dat het kunstwerk buiten zijn artistieke, historische, materiële en culturele waarde ook een spiritueel-ethische waarde heeft. Als een kunstwerk gemaakt is om een fout idee te dienen of om een slecht regime te steunen, kan het dan nog gezien worden als cultureel erfgoed en zou de vernietiging ervan een verlies of een gewin zijn?
In Kroatië werden in het verleden officiële documenten geannulleerd met de stempel Poništeno (Geannulleerd).Brajnovic maakte een prototype stempel met Poništeno, en stempelde het word vervolgens op oude reproducties van bekende religieuze kunstwerken. Tijdens zijn residentie in Frans Masereel Centrum zal Brajnovic oude boeken, prints, postkaarten, kaarten etc verzamelen, waarop hij Poništeno en andere zinnen zal zeefdrukken. Deze objecten zullen dan verder gebruikt worden voor interventies in de Belgische en Europese culturele en historische ruimte.
Tomislav Brajnovics residentie maakt deel uit van Password:Printmaking, een project dat ondersteund wordt door de Europese Gemeenschap en bestaat uit een reizende tentoonstelling en kunstenaarsresidenties. De partners voor dit project zijn MGLC (Ljubljana, Slovenië), SMTG (Krakau, Polen), Hablar en Arte (Madrid, Spanje), MMSU (Rijeka, Kroatië), TPT (Talinn, Estland) en Frans Masereel Centrum (Kasterlee, België). De Password:Printmaking tentoonstelling open haar deuren op 17 april 2013 in Ljublana, en reist daarna door naar Frans Masereel Centrum (opening 9 juni 2013).

I believe that the art work besides its artistic, historical, material and cultural value has
also a spiritual-ethical value. If an ‘artwork’ was made to serve a wrong idea or supported a bad regime can it still be seen as a cultural heritage and would its destruction be a loss or a gain?
In Croatia, official documents were annulled in the past with the stamp Poništeno (Cancelled). Brajnovic then made a prototype stamp with Poništeno on it to use it on old reproductions of famous art works representing sacral subjects. During his residency in Frans Masereel Centrum, Brajnovic will collectold books, prints, postcards, maps etc, onto which he will silkscreen Poništeno and other phrases. These objects will be used for further interventions in the Belgian and European cultural and historic space.
Tomislav Brajnovic’s residency is part of Password:Printmaking, a project funded by the European Community consisting of a travelling exhibition of print art work and artist residencies. The partners for this project are MGLC (Ljubljana, Slovenia), SMTG (Krakow, Poland), Hablar en Arte (Madrid, Spain), MMSU (Rijeka, Croatia), TPT (Talinn, Estonia) and Frans Masereel Centrum (Kasterlee, Belgium).
