Peter Lenaerts gaat in ZSenne onderzoek doen voor zijn nieuw project Micro Sleep Dub . Micro vertrekt vanuit microklank en architectuur en wil luisteren naar die klanken die ons dagelijks omringen maar die onze oren doorgaans wegfilteren omdat ze te vaag, te laag, of te irritant zijn, of omdat ze simpelweg niet stroken met wat onze ogen zien. Door de microfoon te gebruiken als microscoop, wil Micro inzoomen op deze verwaarloosde, onderbelichte en afgedankte klanken. Micro wil het visuele niet negeren of blindmaken, maar wil zien door eerst te luisteren en dan pas te kijken. De natuurlijke biotoop van Micro is de grootstad waar de klank in lagen op elkaar gestapeld ligt. Steden fluisteren, brommen en dreunen; straten gonzen en ruisen; gebouwen ademen, kraken en knetteren; architectuur klinkt, of het nu gewild of ongewild is. Elke kamer klinkt anders, elke ruimte reflecteert. Micro wil deze klanklagen ontrafelen, isoleren en uitvergroten.

Micro is about listening to the environment around us and focusing on those sounds that our ears usually filter out because they are too low, too vague, or too irritating or because they don’t match with what we see.
By using the microphone as a microscope, Micro zooms in on these neglected and unexposed sounds. It’s not about negating or discarding the image, or going blind, Micro simply wants to look by listening first.
Micro’s natural habitat is the city, where layers upon layers of sound are squeezed together. Cities murmur, whisper, and rumble; streets buzz, hum, and purr; buildings breathe, whir, and vibrate. Architecture produces sound, whether voluntary or not. Every room sounds different, every space resonates. Micro wants to unravel, isolate and magnify these layers.

Micro est une recherche de l'environnement sonore qui nous entoure avec une attention particulière pour ces sons habituellement filtrés par notre oreille, laissés pour compte parce que trop discrets, trop vagues, trop irritants ou parce qu'ils ne correspondent pas à ce que l'on voit.
En utilisant le microphone comme un microscope, Micro veut se rapprocher de ces sonorités négligées. Il ne s'agit pas de dénigrer le visible mais d'approcher dabord par l'écoute afin d'observer.
Le milieu naturel de Micro est la ville, où les sons se superposent et s'intersectent par couches multiples. Les villes murmurent, chuchotent et gémissent. Les rues bourdonnent, bruissent et ronronnent. Les bâtiments respirent, ronflent et vibrent. L'architecture produit des sons, voulus ou non. Chaque pièce sonne différemment que les autres, chaque espace résonne singulièrement. Micro entend déployer ces sons, les isoler, les magnifier.
