Bureau d'Espoir nodigt je uit voor de HOPE SESSIONS van donderdag 29/8 tot zondag 1/9. De HOPE SESSIONS is een interview-project rond de betekenis van 'hoop' vandaag. Voor de kunstenaar, de burger, de werker, …  De sessies worden opgenomen en het materiaal wordt gebruikt in een video-installatie tijdens de Bureau d'Espoir tentoonstelling in ZSenne in december 2013. 

Concreet: gedurende 72u nemen Veridiana Zurita en Elke Van Campenhout interviews af in en één-op-één opstelling. We vragen aan iedereen die komt om een hoop-object mee te brengen: een voorwerp dat tactiel hoop produceert, of dat hoop activeert, of dat de situatie transformeert, enz…

Drie dagen lang praten we dag en nacht , met een kop thee of iets sterkers, en tekenen we de krijtlijnen uit van een hedendaags begrip van hoop. Elke sessie duurt ongeveer 2 u: 1 u interview, en één uur (of wat minder) beeldopnames. Als je wilt meewerken, vul dan ajb de doode in, en vergeet je hoop-object niet mee te brengen.

De HOPE SESSIONS medewerkers zijn Veridiana Zurita, Elke Van Campenhout en Marcelo Mardones, en het project maakt deel uit van het langdurige onderzoeksproject Bureau d'Espoir, geïnitieerd door Elke Van Campenhout. Bureau d'Espoir organiseert het performance project 'Battery' en het 'Natural History Museum of Hope' gedurende 22 dagen in december 2013.
Bureau d'Espoir wordt ondersteund door a.pass, ZSenne vzw, de Vlaamse Gemeenschap en de Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie van Brussel.

Bureau d'Espoir would like to invite you to participate in THE HOPE SESSIONS, organized from Thursday, 29th of August until Sunday, 1st of September.THE HOPE SESSIONS is an interview project that will result in a movie that will be shown during the Bureau d'Espoir exhibition in ZSenne in December 2013.
Set-up: During 72 hours Veridiana Zurita and Elke Van Campenhout will conduct one-on-one interviews about 'contemporary' hope. We ask each interviewee to come with a Hope Object, an object they consider hopeful. F.e. an object that produces hope when handled, an object that is a reminder of hope, an object that brings out the potential of the current moment, …. With a cup of tea or a little something stronger, we talk through the days and nights, mapping out hope in all its forms. Every session takes about 2 hours: an hour of talking and then an hour of constructing the collective image of hope. THE HOPE SESSIONS is run by Elke Van Campenhout, Veridiana Zurita and Marcelo Mardones, and is part of the work of Bureau d'Espoir, a long-term collective research project initiated by Elke Van Campenhout. Bureau d'Espoir will share the durational performance project Battery and the Natural History Museum of Hope during 22 days in ZSenne, december 2013.

Bio Lilia Mestre / Marcos Simoës

Biografie Lilia Mestre

Lilia Mestre (Lissabon, 1968) is een Portugese performer die woont en werkt in Brussel. In haar werk gebruikt ze choreografische tools om elementen als perceptie, cultuur en relaties te onderzoeken. Sinds 1994 werkte ze als danseres samen met Vera Mantero, Hans Van den Broeck, Christine de Smedt, Martin Nachbar, Kate Macintosh en Mette Edvardsen. In 1999 richtte ze het gezelschap Random Scream op samen met Davis Freeman, om de eclectische elementen van de alledaagse cultuur te tonen binnen vooropgestelde vluchtlijnen van dans, theater en andere media.
Haar eigen werk omvat de voorstellingen: Untitle me Missing, Link, Beyond Mary and Joseph, Rendering, (g)hosts and Moving you. Ze creëerde ook een site specifieke onderzoeksserie, Interface fictions, waarbij performance, product en de blik in de publieke ruimte bevraagd worden. De performance Live-In Room werd zo gecreëerd als resultaat van een onderzoek naar geluid en emoties.
Haar volgende project Ai! an interjection - as relational form is een choreografische samenwerking met Marcos Simões.
Sinds 2006 is Lilia Mestre dramaturge en curator voor Bains Connective Art Laboratory in Brussel. Momenteel is ze ook mentor bij a.pass (advanced performance and scenography studies in Antwerpen).

Biografie Marcos Simoes

Marcos Simoes (Portugal, 1975) is choreograaf en startte zijn opleiding in 2002 aan de Fine Arts School University Miguel Hernandez in Spanje, waar hij de video Ma vie en rose creëerde. Op dezelfde school realiseerde Simoes zijn eerste dansstuk Espaço/Corpo Corpo/Espaço. Nadat hij zich in Brussel vestigde, creëerde hij in samenwerking met de choreografe Sara Manente de voorstellingen Palindrome (2004), Eye in the sky (2005) en Instructions (2006).
In 2005 richtte Simoes samen met vijf andere choreografen CABRA vzw op (http://cabra.weebly.com/), een collectief dat werkt rond de krachtlijnen samenwerking en wederzijdse ondersteuning vanuit een gemeenschappelijke visie rond dans en kunst. Marcos behaalde de post-master a.p.t/a.pass in Performing Arts in Antwerpen, waar hij verschillende projecten presenteerde rond zijn concept: The LaughingBody. In 2010 creëerde hij twee projecten die vertrokken vanuit het onderwerp ‘beledigingen’: de video en geluidsinstallatie Totem, a place of contradictions en Eskimo.

Simoes danst momenteel mee in een dansvoorstelling van Sara Manente, Faire un Four, dat in december 2011 in première ging in Monty (Antwerpen). Daarnaast creëert hij samen met choreografe Lilia Mestre het project Ai! An interjection as relational form, werkt hij samen met de beeldend kunstenaar Marcelo Mardones aan het project On Path en startte hij samen met Sara Manente het nieuwe project This Place op.

Biography Lilia Mestre

Lilia Mestre (Lisbon, 1968) is a Portuguese performing artist living and working in Brussels. In her work she uses choreographic tools to research issues related to perception, culture and relationality.
Since 1994 she has worked as a dancer and collaborator namely with Vera Mantero, Hans Van den Broeck, Christine de Smedt,  Martin Nachbar, Kate Machintosh and Mette Edvardsen. In 1999 she founded the company Random Scream with Davis Freeman to expose the eclectic elements of everyday culture with proposed lines of flight for dance, theatre, and other media.
Her own work includes the stage performances: “Untitle me”, Missing Link, Beyond Mary and Joseph, Rendering, (g)hosts and Moving you. She also created a site specific research series Interface fictions questioning performance, product and the gaze in public space and the performative site specific installation Live-In Room issued from a research on sound and emotions.
Her next project Ai! an interjection - as relational form is a choreographic collaboration with Marcos Simões.
Since 2006 Lilia Mestre is dramaturge and co-ordinator for Bains Connective Art Laboratory in Brussels. Currently she is mentor at a.pass (advanced performance and scenography studies in Antwerp).

Biography Marcos Simoes

Marcos Simoes (Portugal, 1975) lives in Brussels. He studied civil engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon. He attended the intensive course of SNDO and the contemporary dance programme at the University Miguel Hernandez in Altea, Spain. He created and performed three pieces in collaboration with Sara Manente: Palyndrome, Eye in the Sky and Instructions. He completed the post-master a.p.t/A.pass in Performing Arts in Antwerp where he presented several works around his concept: The LaughingBody. He created Eskimo presented in Monty (Antwerpen) and Working Title Platform (Brussels). He is currently working as an interpreter for Sara Manente, and in two different collaboration projects, Ai! with the Portuguese choreographic artist Lilia Mestre and the other with the visual artist Marcelo Mardones. He’s one of the founding members of the association CABRA vzw (http://cabra.weebly.com/).
